to be beneficial and use them to reduce risk of POPF. We find no clear statistical or biologic reason to explain the huge harm suggested by these retrospective data. The balance of data, biologic rationale, and experience seems to us to be in favor of the conclusion that somatostatin analogues provide benefit. We would therefore discourage their wholesale abandonment based on these retrospective data alone.
