Background Heterotaxy Syndrome (HS) is a disorder with abnormal arrangements of thoracic and abdominal organs. Manifestations include congenital heart defects, increased risks of bacteremia associated with variable splenic anatomy, and intestinal malrotation that may lead to volvulus. Patients with HS currently lack coordinated standard of care given the wide spectrum of organs and disease complexity involved. We, therefore, implemented a multidisciplinary HS-specific checklist and standard discharge letter to improve communication, coordination of care, and education amongst caregivers.
