Key Points Question Is transfer hospital in home (T-HIH) associated with increased days at home without being associated with increased costs? Findings In this quality improvement study, T-HIH was significantly associated with 18% more days at home and significantly less posthospital nursing home use but was not associated with increased Veterans Affairs or Medicare costs. Meaning These findings suggest that T-HIH provides benefits to patients, payers, and health care systems.
