Key Points Question Is there an association between surgeon experience with total hip arthroplasty (THA) in patients with severe obesity and the risk of complications? Findings In this population-based cohort study of 4781 patients, volume of obesity-specific procedures was found to be associated with fewer major surgical complications after THA performed in patients with severe obesity (reduction in risk by 35% for every 10 additional patients). Meaning These findings suggest that referral pathways to surgeons with high obesity-specific THA volume should be considered for this group of patients.
