Key Points Question What are the incidence and clinical outcomes of adults with shock that is not related to trauma who accessed the emergency medical service (EMS) system in Victoria, Australia? Findings In this cohort study, the incidence of prehospital shock treated by EMS was 76 per 100 000 person-years, and the 30-day mortality rate was 32.8%. Meaning These findings suggest that nontraumatic shock of varying etiologies among adults initially receiving care from EMS is associated with a high risk of morbidity and mortality.
