Key Points Question Is higher-than-normal body mass index (BMI) associated with better clinical outcomes in patients with cystic fibrosis? Findings In this systematic review and meta-analysis of studies including 9114 patients with cystic fibrosis, BMI indicating overweight and obesity were associated with better pulmonary function and lower chance for exocrine pancreatic insufficiency and cystic fibrosis–related diabetes compared with normal BMI. Meaning The findings of this study suggest that guidelines should be updated to recommend a higher target BMI in patients with cystic fibrosis.
