Key Points Question What are the factors associated with noncompletion of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) surveillance in patients with high risk? Findings In this cohort study including 629 patients with HCC, most patients did not undergo semiannual surveillance prior to diagnosis with HCC owing to lack of clinician orders, lack of patient adherence, or lack of cirrhosis recognition. Meaning These findings suggest that to improve HCC surveillance attainment, barriers to surveillance receipt should be addressed.
