Key Points Question Is there an association between oncologists being provided with a summary of a geriatric assessment and tailored recommendations and patients having conversations and receiving recommendations regarding their functional status and physical performance? Findings This secondary analysis of data from a cluster randomized clinical trial of 541 patients found that a greater proportion of patients discussed physical performance or functional status concerns with their oncologists when those oncologists received the geriatric assessment summary and recommendations compared with patients who received usual care. Meaning This study suggests that incorporating geriatric assessment results and recommendations into routine community oncology practice may promote oncologist-patient discussions of physical performance and functional status.
