Key Points Question Can a symptom-based screening tool (CHILDhood Asthma Risk Tool [CHART]) improve the ability to identify children at risk of persistent asthma symptoms and health care use? Findings In this diagnostic study of 2354 children with validation in 2 external cohorts, CHART identified infants from the general population at high risk of asthma, persistent symptoms, and health care burden without the need for invasive and time-consuming tests. Meaning These findings suggest that CHART may be incorporated as a routine screening tool in primary care settings to trigger timely treatment initiatives and promote active disease monitoring.
