Key Points Question Is course delivery model (entirely online vs mix of online and in-person classes) associated with college students’ mental health? Findings In this cross-sectional study of a nationwide data set that included 59 250 full-time undergraduate students, those attending fully online classes reported higher levels of psychological distress than students attending a mix of online and in-person classes. Meaning The findings of this study suggest that educational institutions and policy makers should weigh the risks and benefits when making determinations regarding school setting and transitions to online classes.
