Key Points Question Are individual characteristics associated with SARS-CoV-2 test positivity rates of a comprehensive mandatory surveillance COVID-19 testing program in a US dental clinical care academic setting? Findings In this cohort study with 390 participants in clinical and nonclinical roles, the overall test positivity rate was 0.27%; the mean test positivity rate was 0.25% among those involved in patient-facing clinical activities compared with 0.36% among nonclinical participants. Test positivity was significantly associated with testing cadence but not with individual characteristics such as age, sex, and role. Meaning These findings suggest that involvement in patient-facing dental clinical activities did not pose additional risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection compared with other in-person activities in the presence of intensive control measures.
