Key Points Question What is the association between neonatal cranial ultrasound findings and neurobehavioral examination at term-adjusted age? Findings In this cohort study of 675 infants born before 30 weeks’ gestation, abnormal findings on cranial ultrasound were associated with decreased tone, poor regulation of attention, and movement outcomes as the infants matured to term-adjusted age. Meaning Among very preterm infants, abnormal findings on cranial ultrasound identifiable in the first 14 postnatal days were associated with neurobehavior outcomes at or near term-equivalent age and could be used to help counsel and educate parents as well as inform treatment strategies for therapy service in the neonatal intensive care unit and after discharge.
