Key Points Question How do quality indicators for opioid use disorder (OUD) treatment for people with common physical, sensory, cognitive, or developmental disabilities compare with OUD treatment for people without these disabilities? Findings In this case-control study of 84 728 adults with OUD enrolled in Medicaid, people with a disability were 40% less likely than people without disability to initiate medication for OUD (MOUD), with variation by disability type, and were 13% less likely to continue MOUD for 6 months. Meaning These findings suggest that people with disability are less likely than those without disability to receive and continue taking MOUD, and addressing the large gap in MOUD initiation could improve treatment inequities.
