This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (Intervention). The objectives are as follows: Our primary objective is to assess the effects of maintaining stricter glycaemic control using intensive insulin therapy versus conventional insulin therapy on length of stay in PICU and total length of stay in hospital for all paediatric intensive care patients. We will also assess the effects of intensive insulin therapy versus conventional insulin therapy on the following. Inā€hospital morbidity and mortality for critically ill paediatric intensive care patients. Length of stay and duration of mechanical ventilation in paediatric intensive care patients. The incidence of nosocomial infection in all paediatric intensive care patients.
