engineer bacterial cell factories to assemble nano-sized polyester particles coated with proteins of interest. These functionalized polyester particles are stable and show promising performance as bioseparation resins and enzyme carriers. The functionality of these non-porous protein-coated polyester beads is strongly enhanced by controlled encapsulation into porous alginate microspheres that enable flow-through bioseparation or catalytic conversion applications.
