The direct cross dehydrogenative coupling (CDC) reactions of unfunctionalized 2-naphthylamine/2-naphthol analogues with various aniline/phenol derivatives for the preparation of nonsymmetrical atropisomeric biaryl compounds, especially the BINOL-type biaryls, were disclosed using photocatalyst under the irradiation of blue LEDs at room temperature. This protocol provided an efficient, simple access to the formation of nonsymmetrical atropisomeric biaryls in good yields which are privileged to be found in natural products and materials chemistry.
