The COVID-19 pandemic has challenged OR leaders to rethink their roles regarding staff member engagement and retention while simultaneously focusing on multiple daily operational demands. Leaders can be patient and recognize that to lead their teams through this phase, they're going to need to first attend to their own healing and restoration and then focus their leadership on showing genuine concern for the well-being of their team members. Because you don't have time to plan, you have to move briskly and follow your values to drive your decisions and actions.
