I read the article by Hennessy et al. (2016) regarding the use of Twitter to complement neuroanatomy education with great interest. As a strong proponent of social media and technology enhanced learning in anatomy education, I was pleased to see this paper published in Anatomical Sciences Education. The authors identify five observed tweet themes of social media usage from their analysis of undergraduate engagement with their hashtag #nlm2soton (Hennessy et al., 2016). I have identified a number of additional tweet themes and observational learning points based on my own personal experiences of Twitter and medical education. Additional themes I identified include
