Protein turnover (PT) refers to the continuous process of protein syn-thesis and degradation in living organisms. Proteins are one of the majordeterminantsofcellularactivitiesanddamagedproteinsneedto be replaced to maintain an efficient proteome, making PT essential for the performance of cells and tissues.
