1303 Similar results were found for the other CVD events (secondary outcomes), with an increasing risk of HF associated with BP classifications. Patients with stage 1 or 2 hypertension were at higher risk for these events. Given the heterogeneity of patients with cancer, the researchers also performed a subgroup analysis based on clinical characteristics of the patients (e.g., age ≥50 or <50 years, male or female, and with or without active cancer treatment), and they found that the association between increased BP and HF risk was present regardless of these characteristics. The study results were further seen in a validation cohort analysis that the researchers conducted with the South Korean National Health Insurance database. It also showed an increased risk of HF with increasing BP classification.
