Our inside cover features immunofluorescent staining of a thymic epithelial cell colony that resulted from culturing E14.5 thymic epithelial progenitor cells in vitro for 6 days. This image was acquired using confocal microscopy, with cell nuclei stained blue, keratin-5 positive medullary epithelial cells stained green, and b5t positive cortical epithelial cells stained red. The image is taken from Barsanti and Lim et al. (pp. 291-304), where the authors demonstrate a maintained self-renewal and preserved Foxn1 levels in primary in vitro murine thymic epithelial cell 3D cultures, through Bmp4 supplementation.
