A set of functional SCO systems based on FeII-2,6di(pyrazol-1-yl)pyridine (BPP), FeII-BPP, featuring supramolecular pyrene and fullerene (C60) anchoring groups for nanocarbon materials are designed and synthesized. The pyrene tethered complexes [Fe(L)2](BF4)2 and [Fe(L)2](BF4)2 comprise structurally different BPP-pyrene ligand systems L1 (BPP-COOR, R = –CH2-pyrene) and L2 [BPP-CH2OR, R = –OC(CH2)-pyrene].
