It is with great appreciation that we read the comment from Ait Ahmed et al., who raise questions which are equally interesting and important (1). In our manuscript we identify an important role of B cells during liver regeneration. We found that the presence of B cells was essential for liver regeneration after partial hepatectomy (PHx). In line with these results, lack of a functional spleen as well as lack of B cell activating factor of the TNF family (BAFF) was needed for liver regeneration. This article is protected by copyright.
