Acetaminophen (paracetamol, APAP) remains an ongoing public health problem more than 50 years after its introduction in the United Kingdom (UK) in the 1960's. Despite the presence of a highly effective antidote, N-acetylcysteine, APAP toxicity continues to dwarf all other forms of drug-induced liver injury leading to acute liver failure in the Western world (1).
