The optimal endoscopic follow-up interval following obliteration of gastric varices (GVs) remains unclear.(1) In the present study, patients with concomitant medium-to-large esophageal varices (EVs) underwent band ligation every 4 weeks. When obliteration of gastroesophageal varices (GOVs) was achieved, endoscopy was performed 6 months later and then once a year. Unlike EVs, cardiofundal GVs could be very tortuous and mass-like. The size of GVs has not been measured routinely in our institution.
