We read with great interest the article by Musto et al. in a recent issue of "Hepatology".(1) Evaluation of severe alcohol-related hepatitis (AH) demonstrated that 34 out of 144 patients (23.6%) recovered without liver transplantation (LT). Most recovered patients, however, continue to experience end-stage complications. The authors concluded that only LT was associated with improved survival.
