Dear Sir, We appreciate the opportunity to reply to the letter by Janos Pitter et al. in relation to our study. Briefly, we designed an observational population-based study to characterize the disparities in delays from symptoms to treatment in pancreatic cancer, and to measure their association with outcomes. First, treatment delay was, as pointed by Janos Pitter et al., recorded as the difference between dates of interest. Several options were opened for the analysis of treatment delay. Our choice to analyze this delay as categorical (in two categories) was supported by the clinical meaning of the results as well as statistical constraints related to the number of patients:
