A green synthesis of benzimidazole derivatives using recyclable magnetic 4,5-imidazoledicarboxylic is described. The magnetic 4,5-imidazoledicarboxylic (Fe3O4@ImDCA) nanocatalyst was characterized completely by infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), and benzimidazoles were characterized by their melting points, FT-IR, and 1H NMR. The current approach provides a number of advantages in terms of high yields, low reaction times, the use of green media, and easy work-up.
