We read with great interest the article “ Application value of contrast-enhanced ultrasonography in the treatment of uterine fibroids by high-intensity focused ultrasound ablation: A retrospective study ” . 1 The article studied on the effectivity of contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS) in the high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) ablation treatment and the relationship between CEUS features and ablation rate was analyzed. The article included 64 patients with UFs who underwent HIFU ablation treatment and CEUS before and after the treatment. Ablation rate was calculated to assess the effectivity of the HIFU ablation treatment on UFs. The peak time of the time-intensity curve was significantly longer after treatment than before treatment on CEUS. Peak intensity was significantly lower after treatment than before treatment. As the author declared, although not statistically signifi-cant, the ablation rate of uniform enhancement UFs were slightly larger than those with uneven enhancement. The enlargement of the study sample might improve this condition. All measurements were comparable between CEUS and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). We would like to comment on the retrospective study and the discussions.
