supporting the that white female trainees have higher odds of passing the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) certification examination on their first attempt than their non- female non- white peers (Myers et al., These findings raise questions about the pitfalls of using standard-ized testing as the primary measure of preparedness to enter genetic counseling practice. The Myers et al. paper also invites a broader conversation about how our profession's current professional practice standards may pose an obstacle to build a more just, equitable, diverse, and inclusive genetic counseling workforce.
