Primary liver cancer (PLC) has become the third important cause of mortality due to cancer worldwide, with an estimated 5-year overall survival rate of 18%. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the commonest pathological variant of PLC, which comprises 70%–85% of cases. The best management protocol is primary curative hepatectomy in earlier stages without any derangement of the liver function. Despite the best management protocols, it has higher recurrence rate with survival rate of 70% even after the adjuvant. The role of the adjuvant transarterial chemoembolization can delay the recurrence in the high-risk patients with HCC. Again, the postoperative intensity-modulated radiotherapy in cases of the HCC with microscopic vascular invasion is useful.
