Concern about aggressive disease recurrence in the absence of effective antiviral therapy restricted the use of HCV positive allografts to patients listed as status 1. However it soon became clear that transplantation of HCV positive allografts into HCV positive recipients was associated with excellent short and long term outcomes , ] and the use of HCV positive liver allografts became routine.
