The initial patients included all living liver donors (n = 6505) of the 66 participating LDLT institutions in Japan between 1992 and 2012. Among them, the questionnaires were successfully sent to 4953 donors. In this study, participants were mailed a study protocol; 103 questions regarding the experience of the donation, the impression of the donation, and the aftereffects; and the 8 Items Short Form 8 (SF8) questionnaire. The score of each of the eight subscales, the Physical Composite Score (PCS), and the Mental Composite Score (MCS) were measured using the normbased scoring method. The quality of life (QOL) scores were standardized to a mean of 50 and a standard deviation (SD) of 10, making the data comparable with published Japanese norms.[4] This study was approved by the University of Kyoto Research Ethics Committee as project number R00711.
