A multi‐section ultra‐wideband Wilkinson power divider is presented in this article. The proposed device is developed based on a coplanar waveguide (CPW) to coplanar strip (CPS) transition, which is realized on a two‐layer printed circuit board without using via holes. Equivalent circuit model of the proposed power divider is presented, and on that basis a three‐section power divider with an ultra‐wideband performance, ranging from 3 to 16 GHz is designed and numerically validated. Finally, prototypes of the proposed device is fabricated and measured to provide an experimental verification on the numerically predicted features, namely the operating bandwidth, input/output impedance matching, insertion loss, isolation between output ports, and amplitude/phase balance at output ports.
