In this paper, a wideband circularly polarized transmitarray antenna with a planar feeder is proposed. The proposed circularly polarized antenna comprises a planar circularly polarized feeder and a transmitarray antenna (TA) based on receiving‐transmitting element. The TA element uses a circular patch with an open U‐shaped slot and a diagonal rectangular slot as the receiving patch, transmitting energy through a metallized via transmitting energy and a same‐shaped circular patch with an open U‐shaped slot and a diagonal rectangular slot as the transmitting patch. At the same time, a 360° phase compensation is performed by rotating the transmitting patch with the metallized via as the center. For verification, the TA containing 225 elements was modeled, fabricated, assembled, and tested. The measurements show that the circularly polarized antenna has a 3 dB gain bandwidth of 15.7%, a 3 dB axial ratio bandwidth of 21.7% and a peak gain of 22dBi. The proposed circularly polarized antenna has many advantages of high gain, wide bandwidth, low cost and can achieve circularly polarization, which can be used in millimeter‐wave satellite communications.
