This article presents the design and analysis of a miniaturized frequency selective surface (FSS) for ultrawide‐stopband applications. The performance reveals that the proposed FSS could be used to spatial filter the UWB signals and as a shield for the appliances operating in its filtering range. The proposed unit cell follows the regular geometries and showcases quadrangle symmetry, improving polarization insensitivity and angular stability. Its −10 dB stop bandwidth ranges from 3.1 to 16.1 GHz, and −20 dB ranges from 6.7 to 12.82 GHz. The results exhibit its performance invaries with ± $\pm $ 90 ∘ ${}^{\circ }$ oblique incidence of TE and TM waves and the angular stability is more than ± $\pm $ 45 ∘ ${}^{\circ }$ . The size of a unit cell is 10 × 10 × 0.8 mm 3 ${}^{3}$ on FR4 substrate. The proposed FSS's performance is good and, compact and economical.
