Dear Editor, The focus of these publications is on the performance of a new eight channel microtip catheter for measurement of high definition urethral pressure profile, HD-UPP as compared with a simple single channel balloon. Unfortunately new technology is applied in urodynamics, in animal experiments but even in patients, without first carefully analyzing how such new technology could advance what we actually want/ need tomeasure. Here, we are confronted with high definition urethral pressure profilometry and recently with highresolution manometry. What is the potential benefit of high definition UPP? Let us first think about it theoretically, and then have a close look at the data.
