Severe inflammation plays a vital role in the pathogenesis of meconium aspiration syndrome (MAS). Intratracheal (IT) instillation of corticosteroids may be beneficial for MAS in optimizing local effect and reducing systemic adverse effects, but the optimum dosing course remains open to question.
