Ventilator‐associated pneumonia (VAP) is one of the most common causes of nosocomial pneumonia in ventilated neonates. Nevertheless, its diagnosis is challenging due to the nonspecific clinical parameters and the lack of sensitive biomarkers. The main objective of this study was to compare soluble triggering receptors expressed on myeloid cells‐1 (sTREM‐1) and 25‐hydroxy vitamin D as early predictors of neonatal VAP.
