The use of emergency department (ED)‐initiated outpatient oxygen therapy has been considered to be a possible alternative to hospitalization for otherwise healthy‐appearing, well‐hydrated infants with uncomplicated disease. However, a formal economic evaluation of this treatment strategy is lacking.
