Numerous studies have revealed that cultural factors play an important role in intellectual property (IP) management in cross‐national contexts. Although understanding the factors is currently recognized as an essential problem, little research has been done on systematically analyzing and modeling these cultural norms and values. This paper reports on a work in progress that aims to build a theoretical model to explain the differences of people's perceptions about IP infringement in different countries. In this paper, we introduce the background of the study and propose the theoretical model that was gleaned from a systematic review effort.
