Book’s topic As observed for all separation techniques mass spectrometry is also increasingly used in capillary electrophoresis. This reflects the increasing complexity of samples as well as the need for a further and further reduction of detection limits. CE-MS has now reached a state of maturity with robust interfaces allowing for a higher degree of automation. A large number of applications in almost all fields where separation techniques are required have been demonstrated, especially in life sciences where CE is advantageous with regard to the small sample volumes available. CE-MS has thus left its status as a niche technique. However, the number of users with a profound training in CE-MS is still limited, thereby preventing further spread of the technique. The book Capillary electrophoresis – mass spectrometry (CE-MS): principles and applications edited by Gerhardus de Jong can fill a gap and provide further training and insight into this prospering technique. The book is written by renowned researchers in the field.
