Dear Editor The use of botulinum toxin Type A for rejuvenation of the aging face is a very popular procedure. It mainly targets horizontal forehead lines caused by the contraction of the frontalis muscle, glabella expression lines caused by the contraction of the corrugator muscles, periorbital lines caused by the contraction of the orbicularis oculi muscle, and nasal dorsum lines caused by the contraction of the brow depressor muscle and nasal muscles [1–3]. Regarding the quantitative and qualitative use of Botox in different parts of the upper face, we summarized the practical experience of more than 2000 cases and discussed a method of Botox injection in the middle and upper face that is suitable for most oriental women. Forehead Lines: The first row of subcutaneous injection is performed at the most obvious forehead lines at an interval of 1.0–1.5 cm, at a total of about 10 spots. The injection should be at least 2 cm above the upper eyebrow line. A total of 8–10 U of Botox is usually injected. The second row of subcutaneous injection is performed approximately 1 cm below the region of the implantation line of the scalp at a total of five spots, using 4–5 U of Botox. The total dose of Botox used is 12–15 U. Repositioning the Eyebrows: About 70–80% of Chinese women have facial ptosis mainly on the right side, including right eyebrow tail ptosis. Intradermal injections are administered in each side of the eyebrow at a total of eight points. About 0.5 U was injected into the anterior 2/3 of the eyebrow at 4–5 points. A total of 1.0 U was injected & Jin T. Hu [email protected]
