Dear Editor: After normal pregnancy and delivery, we noticed in the 6month-old baby a lumbar midline Bsimple dimple^ and deviated-gluteal-fold together with a Mongolian spot. These findings moved us to prescribe spinal ultrasound that suspected low-lying conus [1].Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed a low-lying conus at the level of L3-L4,with a filar lipoma (Fig. 1, white arrow). Neurological evaluation revealed slight motor delay without neurological deficit. At the age of 5months, the child underwent untethering surgery. After midline laminectomy and dura opening, coagulation and intersection of filum lipoma were performed. At this moment, we discovered hairs within lipoma tissue (Fig. 2, black arrowheads). Then, partial resection of lipoma was carried out. We used a large volume of normal saline to remove all free lying hairs within the spinal canal. The wound closing was performed in traditional fashion. Postoperative periodwas uneventful and the childwas dischargedon fourth postoperative day.
