To the Editor: We read the article entitled “Efficacy of double versus single phototherapy in treatment of neonatal jaundice: a metaanalysis” by Nizam MA et al. [1]. The authors performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of studies comparing double versus single unit phototherapy for the treatment of neonatal jaundice. They conclude that double surface is more effective than single surface phototherapy for neonatal jaundice, especially in preterm neonates as shown by greater rate of decline of total serum bilirubin (TSB) and an absolute decrease in TSB after 24 h of therapy. However, we feel that this result should be interpreted with caution due to the following considerations:

Keywords: versus single; double versus; neonatal jaundice; phototherapy treatment; phototherapy
