I read with interest the article by Dr. Zhang et al. [1] and congratulate the authors on their original study on an unusual topic for neurosurgeons in many countries. As mentioned by the author, however, hydatid disease is still a major problem in infested areas of the world, especially in the rural areas, including Turkey, China, Russia, Japan, Central Europe, Africa, Australia, the Mediterranean countries, the Middle East, and South America [2–4]. For the sake of completeness of the information presented, there appeared to be some points that I felt obliged to comment upon:
