There are a number of parallels between Moussa’s life experience and mine, and we have crossed paths on more than one occasion. We both have a secondary school formation from competitive and challenging boarding schools. Moussa went to a class-oriented boarding school in England where he acquired the needed survival skills, while I enrolled in an Argentinean elitist, boarding/military establishment from which only one in four candidates would graduate as Bachelor and Officer of the Army. Moussa and I have spent a considerable amount of time discussing our boarding schools, and the many sensical and non-sensical experiences we went through to the extreme boredom of our wives... Moussa started his scientific career at McGill University, and I, on the other hand, am enjoying the last stage of my career at the same University. From McGill, Moussa went to London, and later to Cambridge University, and then he left for Paris in 1971, leaving an empty space for me to join Cambridge in 1972. He eventually landed in Oxford to join the MRC Clinical Pharmacology Unit which he left in 1976, again leaving space for me to join the Oxford Department of Pharmacology in 1978. After these many misses it is extraordinary that we ended up meeting in scientific conferences, establishing a strong friendship which has been enriched by many intense scientific discussions (there is no other way to discuss matters with Moussa), sharing experiences of the places we have in common in the UK and in Canada. Places and countries which ultimately molded us in one way or another. Catecholamines, a research interest Moussa and I have in common
