A design of asymmetric coplanar strip-fed (ACS) CRLH antennas for multiband operation is presented in this paper. Two different possible termination of the antenna is discussed. Comparison between ACS short circuit and ACS open circuit termination confirm that the open circuit termination has extra resonance band. The antenna resonance frequencies were optimized for WIMAX/WLAN frequencies. The antennas have compact size of 13.5 × 26.5 mm 2 thanks to the asymmetric configuration. The antenna has size reduction up to 50% as compared to the patch antennas which are operated as the same frequency bands. The antennas are tested experimentally to validate the agreement between simulated and measured data.
