Ru/MCM48 catalyst was used in the hydrolysis of cellobiose leading to complete hydrolysis and 80% glucose yield at 180 °C and 20 min with loadings of 0.14 g/g of cellobiose. The one-pot hydrolytic hydrogenation of cellobiose was optimum at 180 °C with a catalyst load of 0.57 g/g of cellobiose: after 10 min, a conversion of 86% was achieved with an hexitol selectivity of 59%, proving the effectiveness of the Ru/MCM48 catalysts.
