This collection of papers submitted to this Special Issue is mainly an outcome of the Session SSS 8.5, EGU2018 ‘‘Soil contamination and human health: advances and problems of risk assessment’’, the European Geosciences Union (EGU) Conference held in Vienna, April 2018. This Special Issue contains 22 papers written by authors from 17 countries: Australia, Azerbaijan, Botswana, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Czech Republic, Finland, Ghana, India, Iran, Italy, Pakistan, Russian Federation, Spain and USA.
